The Chakras

For Chakra stimulation or balancing, many people like to carry with them a set of seven stones, one for each of the Chakras. These may either be carried in a small pouch, or threaded on a cord and worn around the neck or the wrist.

The choice of stone for each Chakra is largely a matter of individual preference. Often colour is the main deciding factor but, as indicated in the table below, there are often striking alternatives to be considered.

The traditional colours associated with the Chakras are the seven rainbow colours, Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue, Green, Indigo and Violet. This, however, needs some explanation. Indigo is a rich, deep blue colour. This means that the colour traditionally known as Blue in the list of seven rainbow colours should be tending somewhat towards the green, perhaps even close to turquoise or cyan.

CHAKRA SELECTION BY COLOUR ALTERNATIVE SELECTION
Muladhara Garnet, Ruby, Red Agate Bloodstone relates very well to Muladhara. Hematite Jasper can often resonate to the same frequency, especially when it resembles the colours of Malkuth. Unakite is another possibility, for the same reason.
Svadhisthana Carnelian, Sunstone, Orange Calcite A dark amethyst can be used to bring through the deep purple energies of Yesod.
Manipura Citrine, Yellow Topaz, Yellow Jasper, Tiger Eye Any of the stones associated with the metabolism of food and the provision of energy, for example Bloodstone, Carnelian, or Labradorite. Although I have not tried it, a small piece of Gritstone might also work.
Anahata Malachite, Emerald, Jade, Peridot, Moldavite, Green Jasper Rose Quartz is an excellent choice for the Chakra that is closely associated with the heart.
Vishudda Turquoise, Aquamarine, Blue dyed Howlite Yellow stones are sometimes also used for Vishudda, because of their association with the Air element and hence communication, language and the throat.
Ajna Lapis Lazuli, Sapphire, Indicolite (Blue Tourmaline) Clear quartz is sometimes used for the clarity of thought that should be associated with this Chakra of the head.
Sahasrara Amethyst Diamond - if you can afford it!
Alternatively, if you fancy trying something really unusual and especially powerful, how about trying these for the three highest Chakras, chosen by colour:
Vishudda Sodalite
Ajna Sugilite
Sahasrara Charoite
