Alford Valley Railway
Alford to Haughton Park: about 1 mile (1.4 km). 2 ft (610 mm) gauge. Diesel hauled, steam outline locomotive.
Almond Valley Light Railway
Part of the Almond Valley Heritage Centre, near Livingston. Heritage Centre to Almondhaugh, a little over ¼ mile (0.5 km). Extension planned to Almond Ponds. 2 ft 6 in (760 mm) gauge. Diesel hauled using historic military locomotives.
Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway
Bo'ness to Birkhill: 3½ miles (5.6 km). Standard gauge. Steam and diesel hauled.
CairnGorm Mountain Railway
Cairngorm Ski Area, near Aviemore. Coire Cas (car park) to Ptarmigan: 1¼ miles (2 km), with a rise of 1486 feet (453m). Broad gauge (2000mm) funicular. No access to the mountain from the Ptarmigan station (except for winter skiers), but in summer walkers may enter the station and buy a ticket to ride down the funicular.
Caledonian Railway
Brechin to Bridge of Dun: 4 miles (6.4 km). Standard gauge. Steam and diesel hauled. Murder Mystery evenings on certain dates.
Isle of Mull Railway
Mull - Craignure (Ferry Pier) to Torosay Castle: 1¼ miles (2 km). 10¼ in (260 mm) gauge. Steam and diesel hauled.
Jacobite Steam Train
Steam trains operating on the Network Rail route between Fort William and Mallaig: 41 miles (66 km).
Keith and Dufftown Railway
Keith (Town station, about ¾ mile (1.2 km) from First ScotRail station) to Dufftown: 10¼ miles (16.3 km). Standard gauge.
Kerr's Miniature Railway
West Links Park, Arbroath. West Links to Hospitalfield: 400 yards (366 m). 10¼ in (260 mm) gauge. Steam and diesel hauled.
Leadhills & Wanlockhead Railway
Leadhills to Glengonnar: about ¾ mile (1.1 km). Extension proposed to Wanlockhead, a further ¾ mile (1.1 km). 2 ft (610 mm) gauge. Diesel hauled, with a steam locomotive in the course of restoration.
Royal Deeside Railway
Milton of Crathes. Line about ¼ mile (0.4 km) in length. Eventual extension proposed to Banchory, a total distance of about 3 miles (4.8km). Standard gauge. Diesel hauled.
Strathspey Steam Railway
Aviemore (for First ScotRail trains) to Broomhill: about 9½ miles (15.5 km). Proposed extension to Grantown on Spey, a total distance of 12¾ miles (20.5 km). Standard gauge. Steam and diesel hauled and diesel railcars. Dining trains operate at certain times.
Summerlee Heritage Park
Coatbridge. The park includes a ¼ mile (0.4 km) standard gauge electric tramway. Presently closed for major redevelopment, due to reopen September 2008.
